Alta Vista is a neighbourhood located south of the 417hwy in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Alta Vista has one of Ottawa’s richest historical backgrounds. Alta Vista dates back to the 19th century. It was subdivided and previously known as part of Rideau Park, around 1890s. The area originally was owned by the Billings Family and formed part of their estate. Alta Vista got its name when Churchill Drive was renamed in 1950.
As Ottawa expanded to include Alta Vista, the neighbourhood development was further accelerated during the 1960s. The Alta Vista area is known for the schools, various churches, community centres, and parks making it a very suitable environment for a growing family.
